The family. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck
I love it when families come back to see me each year, and this family is no exception. Misty and Jared have their hands full with three beautiful girls and one handsome little man, but this year, they also added Sebastian, a student from Denmark, to their family. When they all piled out of their suburban on a chilly, yet gorgeous fall evening, I couldn’t help but giggle. Afterward, after going through their pictures, I found myself laughing out loud because I was reminded of how much fun I have with this family. These kids keep me on my toes, and there are NO dull moments! From their gorgeous red hair, to toothless grins, to “I’m going to be YODA”, to dad Jared and Sebastian acting ridiculous just to get eye contact…we had a good time! And that is the best kind of shoot there is!
In going through my literature collection, I found the quote from Erma Bombeck, and I couldn’t help but post it here. I think often about what it means to be a family, and the reason I tucked this one away is because I think it is a perfect description.
Thanks for coming back to see me Rentschler family, you always make me smile!
