A Rural Nebraska Ranch Wedding

While 2020 has been a great deal about Covid-19 and how it has turned the world upside down, I do believe it is possible to find silver linings if we look around expecting to see them.

One of the most beautiful silver linings of 2020 has been the lovely outdoor intimate weddings happening everywhere. Even though couples have been forced to rethink their original visions for their big day, I have been moved by the simplicity of simple ceremonies, with small gatherings of friends and family, eating simple meals in people’s backyards, parks, and pastures.

So…when my brother and new sister-in-law decided to have an outdoor wedding on the family ranch here in rural Nebraska, I was absolutely ecstatic! We haven’t had a wedding on the ranch since 1945, when my Grandmother and Grandfather got married in the living room of my Great Grandparent’s home. It was an event we all have been looking forward to for months!

August brought with it a heatwave for what feels like the entire month, but like magic, on wedding day, the August heat was tempered by a cold front and northern breeze that refreshed us all. The sun shone down, love was present in all the details, and it was a truly beautiful and glorious day!

There were hundreds of beautiful little moments throughout this gorgeous day, and I simply can’t share them all here with you, so here is just a taste.
