North Central Nebraska Teen Photographer: {Contest} Tell Me A Story About Your Favorite Giving Teen…

I have met some absolutely AMAZING teens over the last few years.  I love keeping in touch with them and learning about all the wonderful things they are doing in their lives.  With all the negativity in the media about youth violence, bullying, suicide, etc… it is easy to get down on teens these days.  It is easy to lump them all together and proclaim them to be apathetic, lazy, disrespectful, and selfish.  And…while it might be true that there are teens out there who do fit the description above, I also KNOW that there are teens out there who are exactly the opposite. For one reason or another, well, we just don’t hear as much about the wonderful things they do.

In my 7 years of teaching, I have met students who have collected toys to send overseas to children, I have watched students donate GALLONS of blood to the local blood banks, I have read articles about students who have run cross country races with a special needs student so they can cheer her on to the end, I have talked to teens who have shown me what REAL faith is all about, and I have witnessed students who believe so much in something that they will run across the state and all the way to the capital to make a point and bring attention to an important cause.

I KNOW that we have some amazing teens in our communities.

So, will you to share your story about a giving teen that is special to you?

I invite you (and by YOU, I mean ANYONE is invited to do this) to compose a short, but thoughtful, personal essay sharing how you are thankful for a local upcoming Senior.  You are invited to illustrate that teen’s giving character by sharing a personal story about what the teen has done for you or or for someone else. You are encouraged to share testimony about how that teen demonstrates outstanding character, participates willingly in their community, volunteers cheerfully in charitable causes, shows outstanding citizenship and leadership qualities, or demonstrates other giving traits.
